Dr. Michael joins the treatment team at South Lake Wellness & Injury Center after graduating from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Port Orange, FL. By way of introduction, Dr. Callahan is a life-long Floridian, born and raised in Gainesville. He attended P.K. Yonge Laboratory School from K through grade 12, excelling as a scholar athlete on the baseball, swimming and football teams and an avid sports fan of the Florida Gators. Upon graduation, Dr. Callahan attended the University of South Florida in Tampa, achieving a Bachelor's Degree in Biology.
Inspired by personal health challenges, Dr. Callahan researched his eating patterns and vigorously pursued a commitment to consuming primarily healthy whole foods. The immediacy of his health improvements were compelling in healing his mind, body and spirit. Frustrated by the well-intentioned but narrow minded prescription drug solution to his long term issues involving skin inflammation and an angry gut, Dr. Callahan took control of the trajectory of his journey to health and wellness. His new found passionate interest in Functional Medicine and preventive health solutions have dramatically changed his life.
Dr. Callahan was drawn to the field of Chiropractic as a natural pathway to pursue his life purpose of being an agent of healing and wellness. His passion for excellence in the field of Chiropractic was amplified by the emphasis on seeking to understand illness at its root cause. Through an informed understanding of this foundational knowledge, Dr. Callahan will seek a working partnership with each patient to go beyond superficial solutions to overcome and prevent future medical challenges.
When not passionately ministering to the needs of his patients, Dr. Callahan is an unapologetic family man; committed to spending quality time with his best friend, and wife, and new baby daughter. They enjoy adventure travel, hiking, and any adventure involving animals (zoos, aquariums, and the outdoors). Dr. Callahan also enjoys farmer’s markets, attending concerts, cooking, fishing, scuba diving and of course cheering on the local sports teams.
